Own a truck and considering operating with a partner motor carrier? TTM Dispatch helps you explore available lease-on opportunities and understand the requirements, costs, and responsibilities involved.
Review the carrier, equipment eligibility, insurance arrangements, and settlement terms before deciding whether the package fits your operation.
Your truck. A clearly defined carrier relationship.
UNDERSTAND THE RELATIONSHIP
A Carrier Arrangement Built on Clear Responsibilities.
Leasing on involves entering an operating relationship in which your equipment is leased to an authorized motor carrier under a written agreement.
The arrangement should explain how the equipment will operate, how compensation is calculated, which expenses apply, and what each party is responsible for.
TTM helps coordinate initial discussions around available partner-carrier opportunities. The actual carrier reviews eligibility and provides the agreement governing the arrangement.
This is separate from dispatch-only support for carriers operating under their own eligible authority.
REVIEW THE COMPLETE ARRANGEMENT
Know What’s Included Before You Commit.
Your package discussion should address the following areas. Availability and inclusions depend on the partner carrier’s written agreement.
Equipment Requirements
Confirm which trucks and trailers the carrier accepts, along with equipment condition, inspection, registration, and ownership requirements.
Driver Qualifications
Review the carrier’s license, experience, medical qualification, driving-history, and onboarding requirements for anyone operating the equipment.
Insurance Responsibilities
Understand the required coverage, who arranges it, applicable charges, deductibles, and how claims or related deductions are handled.
Dispatch & Operating Procedures
Clarify how freight is coordinated, which operating areas are available, how lane preferences are considered, and which decisions require carrier approval.
Registration & Operating Expenses
Review responsibility for plates, permits, fuel, tolls, maintenance, and applicable reporting requirements. Do not assume these items are included in a quoted percentage.
Settlements & Deductions
Understand compensation calculations, payment timing, required paperwork, deductions, reserves, and any process for reviewing disputed amounts.

LEASE-ON QUESTIONS
What to Know Before Getting Started.
Is this the same as renting an MC number?v
No. This service concerns possible equipment lease-on arrangements with an authorized motor carrier. It does not involve renting an MC or USDOT number for independent use.
Do I need my own operating authority?
Not necessarily for a properly established lease-on arrangement. The partner carrier must approve the relationship, and the equipment must operate within the applicable agreement and requirements.
Can I use my own truck?
Yes, truck owners are the intended audience for these discussions. Acceptance depends on the carrier’s equipment standards, documentation, inspection requirements, and current availability.
Can I choose my preferred lanes?
You can discuss preferred states, routes, and home-time needs. Actual operating arrangements depend on the carrier’s freight availability, dispatch procedures, and agreement.
How quickly can I start?
Timing depends on suitable openings, equipment eligibility, driver review, insurance arrangements, documents, and completed agreements. No approval or start date is guaranteed.
Have a specific operational question?
We are happy to review your current dispatch protocol and lane requirements.
